Fox News just reported that USA Today is claiming hundreds of soldiers not reporting for duty

Posted on 09/28/2004 4:47:26 PM PDT by Shandon Belle

Just heard on Fox News with Shepard that USA today is claiming hundreds of soldiers not reporting for duty or are requesting deferrals for hardship reasons. According to Shep the army is considering charging the no shows with desertion. Shep also stated that the Ready Reserve will be called up shortly. Is Kerry and his VVAW attitude having an effect on our troops?

USA Today has refused to print an ad from Rightmarch.com unless they pay an exorbitant ad rate which they've never done before...so can this report be believed? Or is Kerry influencing another liberal MSM newspaper (USA Today)?

USA Today also puts out Florida Today - liberal papers. We always have numerous Pro-Kerry articles.

Not surprising. I wouldn't blame Kerry though.

IMO a lot of potential soldiers will take a wait-and-see before signing up. Kerry isn't someone they want as a Commander-in Chief. History re: Bill Clinton taught them that.

Hey Dan Rather, will you look into this please?

Odds are that USA Today is misrepresenting this.

Odds are...that there are no more soldiers doing this than happens in peace time. (I use the term peace time in loose form....since there is never a real peace time.....which is why we NEED BUSH).

Many of the soldiers that apply for the medical waiver...really do need it.

It seems only 8 soldiers may be in questionable stance.
From what I saw on Fox and heard on the radio.

Aaah, excellent point. They aren't showing up because of the war, but because they don't want to serve under Kerry. I know the thought of Kerry being the CIC to my friend scares the daylights out of me.

ask them questions about their military service if you suspect they are liars. that should flush them out quickly

This is not Kerry's fault.

How many in peace time attempt deferments from overseas duty? I personally knew dozens during my 4 years from 79 though 83. I've also seen reservists not willing to pull their weekend duty. In my mind 100's isn't a significant number in the big picture.

He would not have to call them....they probably work in his campaign team.

Maybe they can appear in a Winter Soldier kind of committee with Kerry talking about cutting off heads, burning people live, etc.

I do not know. What is "hundreds" to USA Today..200?

Yes I do believe the constant drumbeat in this campaign about Iraq being a disaster and the news showing mayhem all the time could cause some soldiers anxiety.

Just remember there are tens of thousands of men and women who serve, and they are proud of their duty and their Iraqi mission.

I have in the past/weeks/months.....they always lie and they type like they havent been to school much less are military officers.....and AOL puts it up on screen ( selected comments ) as if it is truth... if you post anything to them, or call them on it, you just get all kinds of nutz writing trash to you....their chat boards are about as good as the New York Times Frank Richs'.. I post there every now and again just for the heck of it .. and they dog me to death hahahahaha
