Seriously, that's really a neat picture. I hiked up near there in August 1990, and there was no snow anywhere in view.
The glaciers were blown off and/or melted in the explosion in 1980. They've slowly been reforming since then. Most, if not all, of the snow has melted by August. A few of my kids hiked St. Helen's in Aug. 2003 and it was pretty dry. I'm amazed that glaciers can form at all considering how hot it gets there in southern WA state. Once again we get to seen nature doin it's thing. It's pretty awesome.
