I've noticed the oldest seem to be 1998. I remember that was when the software changed and I think everybody got a new anniversary date. Cause I know I was here long before 98.

Well, kid, I know you were here when you and tpaine discussed shoot outs in Venice one whole night with maps and everything and sent poor ol' mojie over the bend. And YRT, you must have registered by phone on the way to the MFJ with half of Texas in the rumble seat.

That said, I registered May 5, 1998 so my number is under 5,000...which is slightly greater than my net worth now that the Republicans have controlled the Congress all these years.

Jim finally got fed up with the mods over there so he started this here site. So if anybody has any problems with the mods here, you can always do what Jim did and start your own website!

Yep I to remember those days. Jim was hacked at the mods for cleaning up posts and taking down posts that were from copyrighted sites. Funny how what you fought against is now what you're doing.

Agreed wholeheartedly Jim. I posted this thread because over the years I have had several arguments with people about how the oldtimers have left. I tell them they haven't (I still get the occasional email/FReepmail from many of them), that there is a pathology about FReeping, from lurking, to registration, to posting, to flaming and finally to anonymity. The fact is, after a period of time, everyone acquires a number of "detractors" and once one has said all they want to say, they just sit back, read, learn and let the new kids on the block have some fun.

FReepers never die, they sit back and watch the evolution of the site and jump in every now and then when they feel it needs a little nudging.
