He wasn't pathetic. You disagree with his point, which is a very sensible one that I've espoused before GWB became president. That is, when Mexico's standard of living rises and they develop a strong middle class that illegal immigration problem will be solved.

Just because you disagree does not make it "pathetic".

"when Mexico's standard of living rises and they develop a strong middle class that illegal immigration problem will be solved."

That will never be allowed in Mexico!

Imprision and fine employers, cut off all social services, and return to the law that you have to be born of an american citizen to be born a citizen and the illegls will self deport.

When I take the time to actually read what Bush proposes on the subject, rather than take my info from the headlines and quick clips that the media prefers, I am in complete agreement on this president's attempts at solutions.

That is, when Mexico's standard of living rises and they develop a strong middle class that illegal immigration problem will be solved.

The only way that scenario works is that, at the same, time the U.S. Middle Class standard of living falls and the wages are equalized.

With unchecked Illegal Immigration, the U.S. Middle Class standard of living will fall.

So you may be quite right. Do you have children? Think long term for their sakes.

You're right. Mexico with a strong middle class would solve this mass migration problem. But time may run out for us before that happens. How much of their population has trooped north? Twenty five per cent? And meanwhile, Arab terrorists have figured out that America's back door is wide open. Not good.

I don't believe one single representation about the status of the border made here on FR. Not one.

That's a shame, that folks would abuse this place that way. But the 24X7 individuals involved here are untrustworthy IMO.

We don't have "open borders". The Arizona problem is a product of our success in California and Texas. We've forced them to do a desert crossing.

The issue is all about dynamic labor markets and corrupt RAT welfare. The former needs to be acknowledged and supervised, and the latter needs to be obliterated.

You are so right. Mexicans don't want to leave their country but many of them have to to survive. I don't know the answer but as long as they are living in abject poverty under a corrupt government it will continue.
