Alan Hale (Sr.) played the blacksmith who hung Clint Eastwood in "Hang Em High," and he also played the cook on a submarine in a WWII movie that I can't remember the title of, but Cary Grant was the Skipper of the boat, and there was a crewman who needed to have his appendix out. Great movie, I just can't remember the title.
