WASHINGTON, September 24 (IslamOnline.net) - With US presidential elections looming large, polls showed a drastic decline of American Muslims' support for US president George Bush in the coming November elections.
Nearly 68% of US Muslims said they would vote for Democrat presidential hopeful John Kerry in the presidential elections, against only 7% eager to vote for the incumbent Bush.
According to the poll -- conducted by the Zogby International Center - and surveying 1700 US Muslims, around 11% of the Muslim community are willing to vote for the independent candidate Ralph Nader in the coming elections.
The poll also showed a turnout among the US Muslims' support for the Republican Party as only 12% said they support the Republicans, against 23% in the 2001 polls.
Around 50% of the US Muslims said they support the Democratic Party rising from 40% in 2001, while the support for independent candidates has increased to hit 31%, against 28% in previous polls.
Drastic Turnout
Polls in 2000 showed Muslims favoring Bush over Al Gore by a wide margin - some showed support in the 90 percent range - and some groups argued that some 60,000 Muslim votes put Bush over the top in Florida.
It's amazing how much can change in four years, according to the Zogby website.
He is not the president he promised to be in 2000, Samer Hanini, a 29-year-old architect, was quoted on the website as saying.
He failed us in areas of Mid East peace, foreign policy and the economy. Im embarrassed I voted for him.
After the Sept. 11 attacks, and the anti-terror policies that followed, Muslim leaders who had organized the Bush endorsement said openly they had made a mistake , the USA Today said in a report last week.
On April 29, a poll conducted by the Washington-based Arab American Institute revealed that a majority of Arab Americans in four battleground states would vote for Kerry if presidential elections were held that day.
Political Unity
Feeling their influence in the US elections, the American Muslims are willing to politically unite during the November presidential elections as 81% expressed support for the agenda of the US Muslim civil rights and elections committee.
According to the Zogby poll, around 69% of those polled said they would vote for the presidential candidate whom the US Muslim committee favors.
Some 53% said they prefer to vote in the presidential elections as one group.
The US Muslim civil rights and elections committee comprises a number of major Islamic organizations in the United States, foremost of which are the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the American Islamic society, the American Muslim coalition, the Islamic group for North America and a group of Islamic groups in the country.
The agenda of the committee for the November elections touches on enhancing civil rights in the country as well as other issues of concern for the American public as education, economic reform, environment, election system reform and the dissemination of peace and justice.
I've been angry at what I thought was the cowardice of the Muslims in the US. This poll puts the finishing touches on what I suspected. They have every intention of turning the US into a nation of Islam. This will not stand.
Nearly 68% of US Muslims said they would vote for Democrat presidential hopeful John Kerry in the presidential elections, against only 7% eager to vote for the incumbent Bush.
Ok, so who does a Muslim poll? Some stuff just STINKS no matter how you try to "sugarcoat" it.
I'm puzzled by the above. The Jewish vote for GWB will far exceed 7%.It should be over 30%
What you said also applies to the muslim population in India. They use the resources, but hate the hindu majority. The muslims in India favor Pakistan (which has official state religion of islam) by about the same percentage as the muslims in USA oppose president Bush.
But if they ever do, as you say we WILL end up fighting then in the streets, and WE WILL KICK THEIR BUTTS.
They are cowards, who slit the throats of helpless defenseless civilians but pee their pants when faced with REAL men.
I like you!
I live in an area of Western North Carolina where there are at least five times more firearms than people per capita. Methinks that this little chunk of mountains holds folks who would opt for a bang over a wimper, so to speak, and I count myself among them.
Peas in a pod, IMHO. Theyve been fighting and killing and looting for centuries over there, no doubt they will for centuries more. I say we kick ALL the middle easterns out.
True, but if I was Muslim, and I read even a few of the posts on here, I would never vote Republican either.
0.00%
"He failed us on Mid East peace..."
Who failed you? Perhaps the fault lies with (I'm going to go out on a limb, here) your murdering terrorist kindred, hmmm? I'm embarrassed you voted for him, too.
I think this is a good sign - I do not want those who would blame the U.S. for the problems in the Middle East voting for Bush. That would mean that something is seriously askew in the adminstration's terrorism policy. Let them go with the liberal weenie who will blame the U.S. also.
This means that Bush is doing the right thing. I would be worried if he had Muslim support.
If this "herd instinct" is representative of American muslims thinking how can they be expected to adhere to democratic principles which involves independent thought? The herding instinct is representative of Socialism not Republicanism.
There are many ethnic groups that vote as a block, but none of them are responsible for world wide terrorism except the muslims. A show of independent thought among muslim factions would go a long way to show the American people that Islam isn't the solid-walled religious ideology we all think it to be.
On the other hand showing a "herd instinct" does support the view of many Americans that one muslim will follow another muslim without question in whatever event he may perpetrate.
Damn, I think whimper has a pesky H in there somwhere.
They're lucky they are in a country where they can speak their mind.....for now.
The moslem's problems in the mid east have been self inflicted . Thats been the case for many many years. They are raped by their own kind . No sympathy here. The irony is they hate us yet they can vote here and have NO say back in their beloved homelands..
"I guess that they haven't been listening. Kerry would react in fear if there was another attack."
They've been listening.
They're not worried about that because even they know he's a pathological liar.
He won't do squat to protect us and they're literally banking on it.
Did you get a boo-boo? I'll go call a waaahhhhmbulance for you!
They deserve the opprobrium they are getting. Of course they wouldn't agree, but that makes it no less valid. Most of those that became citizens lied when they swore allegiance to the USA. They just do not demonstrate it!!
