PRESS RELEASE September 23, 2004

Burn Baby Burn

KOLE joins FOX’s Bill O’Reilly in his France Boycott

Beaumont, Texas – KOLE (News Radio FOX 1340/1380 AM) FOX Morning Blend host Dominick Brascia announced this morning on his radio show that he will burn the flag of France and will join Bill O’Reilly of FOX News in his effort to boycott France.

Brascia, along with co-hosts Debbie Wylde and Jeff Roberts, got angry after learning that, again, France was standing in the way of America’s War on Terrorism in Iraq. After putting together a list of all the problems America has had with its “alleged” friend, the idea of burning a flag from France in protest was born.

Listeners to the popular morning show (6am-9am, Mon-Fri) immediately called in favor of the burning. Brascia says the flag of France will be set ablaze at 8:25am on Thursday, September 30, 2004, in the front parking lot of KOLE News Radio FOX (27 Sawyer Street in Beaumont). Listeners are invited to watch the flag ‘Burn Baby Burn’.

Reasons stated for this protest are:

· France’s attempt to block, veto, and prevent regime change in Iraq.

· When President Reagan bombed Khadafy’s Libya after it sponsored terrorism that killed American soldiers, the French refused to allow US bombers to cross its airspace.

· The France bargain with the PLO in the 1970s that it would not arrest Arab terrorists using France as their base planning attacks on Israel and Jews so long as they did not engage in terrorism on French soil.

· The French did not stand with us when America went toe to toe with Castro during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

When they burn the French flag, they won't realize that they are burning another symbol for man's highest aims. They'll only be thinking of their own selfish desires of the moment.

Unless you are a hundred years old how can you say that France has ever been, in your memory, anything but a cowardly led nation. If the French people were so strong and had such libertarian values they would have dumped their socialist leanings decades ago. Yet, here they are today sitting on the brink of communism and you defend them. I don't care if they burn the French flag. It means nothing to me. Now, don't you dare burn the American flag or the Polish flag (or any other of our coalition members) because then your insulting all of us. But, to call the current day French people anything but lazy, spoiled, arrogant elitists is beyond my comprehension.

I said that the French flag stands for something better than the French nation has been demonstrating. You misunderstood my comments. There are good French people who are trying to live up to the ideals for which their flag stands. We insult them when we burn their flag. We should be encouraging the French people who have the courage to do what is right, not lump them all together in one big category that we despise.

I would like have a president like Bush, but infortunatly we have a guy, Chirac who is the best friend with all dictators, and now we have a bad reputation in the world.

To live in France and make such a statement shows real strength and moral fiber. Take care, Marie. You're more of a patriot and freedom fighter than 100 France bashing Americans. You can teach us something about freedom, and I hope you continue to do so.

An American burning the flag that means "liberty, equality, and fraternity" is no better than Rachel Corrie teaching Palestinian kids to burn the American flag. It's human nature to lash out at misunderstood symbols, but it takes intelligence to know better.

The French haven't had a competent General since Napoleon Bonaparte and he wasn't even French!
