Indeed, some of these kids are permanently mentally scarred by the treatment/behavior of the biological parents, especially given their age. Small wonder that things like what happened to this woman occur. The kids had no moral upbringing. These adoptive parents should be commended for taking on the risk of raising troubled kids. Course, how the kid was then raised by the adoptive parents should be judged on its own merit. Not much in the article about that.

My friends are wonderful people, but the girl they adopted at age 10 was ruined by the time they got her -- daughter of an unmarried welfare mother, bounced from foster home to foster home, etc. Sadly enough, she is replicating her biological mother's life: can't hold a job, repeatedly evicted, promiscuous. As a mutual friend would say: "What breeds, breeds."
