I'd be more inclined to have our military return to a policy of no women in combatant including support roles in combat zones, but that's just me.

Then why have them at all? Under the restrictions you're describing a civilian work force in those roles is cheaper.

I agree. Women shouldn't be in the army at all (not to mention the USMC!), Iraq is showing that there is no front-line on the ground. Technical and medical billets stateside in the navy and airforce should be the extent of it.

No technical or medical billets for the Army or Marines? And, I assume, no seagoing billets at all? You've described, at most, a few thousand billets. Why bother having them at all?

The military now is so overwhelmed with single mothers that a case like yours (a married, responsible couple) is the exception, and not the rule.

Can you provide some sort of support for this nonsense? I served over 20 years in the Navy, active duty and reserve. I've served with female officers as peers, served under the command of female officers, and have had female officers and enlisted under my command. And it's been my experience that the overwhelming majority of female service personnel are competent, dedicated, motivated, patriotic people who do their job to the best of their ability and who want nothing more than to serve their country. And not be judged by people like you.
