8. A bit of a blow to the Democrats' "Fortunate Son" attack on the president. As of today, the Democratic Party plans to continue its campaign to question Bush's National Guard record. But some of those who are involved in formulating that message daily say they will wait and see how much oxygen the document story requires over the next few days and they did not rule out a change in focus. They said that repeating the mantra that Bush did not fulfill his Guard obligations keeps it out there and they hope the media will continue to investigate the substance of those allegations. The Democrats are also determined to appear on the offensive, no matter what. And they recognize that if they suddenly withdraw their claims, it may lend unwitting credibility to the theory that they are somehow in league with the document forgers.

These memos should be referred to henceforth as 'the discredited "Fortunate Son" documents' to cement the relationship between CBS, the DNC and the Kerry campaign's ad campaign. That is the mantra that needs repeating, imho.

Excellent to name it the "Fortunate Discredited Son Documents.
Truly truly amazing how employees, yes Rather and up are employees, do stonewall, deflect, point fingers at others etc. with an in your face attitude of ethics transgressions and breach of trust.
These employees in upper positions endanger the entire corporation and put themselves above the interest of thousands of employees who could lose their jobs, or millions of stockholders who will bleed.
Arrogant, arrogant plus a sympathetic chorus by other liberal main stream media journalists jumping in to overcome one of the greatest media scandals perpetrated by these self appointed watchdogs of the truth.
