GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. (AP) - A man was found dead after falling from a trail in Grand Canyon National Park and landing about 500 feet below, a park spokeswoman said Monday. Efforts to recover the man's body using a helicopter were hampered by high wind Monday and park spokeswoman Leah McGinnis said an attempt would be made Tuesday.
It was an unclear why the man fell while hiking Saturday, McGinnis said. His wife had been walking in front of him and didn't see him fall.
Authorities didn't release the man's identity because they had not yet positively identified the body Monday.
OK, so now we know why he fell. But it wasn't the fall that killed him anyway - the bad part was when he stopped falling.
"Could it be... SATAN?"
His wife had been walking in front of him and didn't see him fall.
"How conveeeenient!"
Deceleration trauma.
We had a guy do that from the top of the barracks (fifth floor) - also tripping on acid - he thought he could fly to the dumpster in the parking lot. The top half of his head made it, anyway.
Yuk.
Unless you are just off the parking lot on the south rim, where they have guard rails in the high traffic areas, pretty much every trail would have unmarked danger spots like this.
that was Art Linkletter's daughter many years ago and it was a high window.
Where's that picture that was posted acouple weeks ago of Kerry doing a flying leap at the Grand Canyon? It was a scream.
Was it was Bill Burkett, and he was hiking with Joe Lockhart at the time? ;)
Why do they call John Kerry "The Poodle"? Four reasons:
1. He's French.
2. He's got a poodle cut.
3. He's a rich woman's toy.
4. He won't protect you.
Down the memory hole?
This is all I could find: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A52839-2004Aug9.html
I was there on Monday and didn't see any SAR efforts. I did see a lot of people leaning over the railings and acting stupid though.
And if you wonder about the sweatshirt...it was 98 in Chandler and 54 at the Rim!
So you're 'tourist guy'!
;^)
I was just there last month with my small children. I noticed the gaps in the fencing (out on the viewing areas) were large enough for my 3 year old to slip through. Scary.
