Kerry gave a pretty effective speech on Iraq by the way. Bush needs to think through how to handle it, and give a more serious response, in a more serious venue, than flip flop again on the campaign stump. He needs to point out he is already implementing the Kerry points, and that sometimes one needs to tough out reverses, given the stakes. There is no going back. And the prize is huge. It is worth some sweat and toil.
Oh really? Well, you'd never know, because his "effective speech" got lost in the CBS documents story. Now, I know that Kerry was just doin' his best to jump out in front of the President's speech before the UN tomorrow. But I haven't seen much about it on the news tonight. Until you, so handily brought it up.
For the most part, it was a rehash of the "Bush lied" argument, and then he ended up essentially arguing that we would be better off if we had left Saddam Hussein alone.
That position will not play well with swing voters.
It means that it was well received. Big Difference.
Here's Bush's answer to whatever Kerry says about Iraq:
"Senator Kerry says he has a new strategy for Iraq. It's the Confusion Strategy. He takes so many postions that it confuses the enemy and the enemy doesn't know what the United States will do."
