Props to Carl Cameron.
He had the Max Cleland admission on Fox News earlier today.
Lockhart says that Burkett had advice for dealing with the Swiftees, but also says Mapes' suggestion (why is CBS calling Kerry?) was natural because it was common knowledge CBS was working on a TexANG story. Hmmm.
tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic.....
Bye Bye Danny Boy, and Ketchup Boy!
BUCKHEAD IS JOE LOCKHART!!
snicker snicker
Drug dealers defense: "I didn't make the coke. I only helped others to distribute it."
It should be noted that the first break in Camp Kerry comes from a recent Clinton addition. Who said Bill and Hillary were not working for the Bush reelection. They are not taking any chances on a close election, Hillary wants to run against a non-incumbent in 2008.
CBS News needs to be removed from the air and equal time must be given to the President for the Kerry propaganda that this network spewed during the campaign so far.
VIDEO: Rather interveiewed by WCBS reporter...

In a remarkable interview, Liar Dan says that he doesn't feel betrayed by his source; that he believes his source; that the story is still correct, but he would not have used the documents. He also takes shots at the White House. It is absolutely remarkable to watch this guy self-destruct this way. Paranoid Rather looks absolute depressed as he tells one lie after another.
The story about Lockhart and Mapes shows Liar Dan still hasn't come clean and the coverup is still on. From WaterGate to RatherGate, Liar Dan has seen the decline and fall of CBS news.
"At the behest of CBS, an adviser to John Kerry said he talked to a central figure in the controversy over President Bush's National Guard service shortly before disputed documents were released. "
Since WHEN does a major media producer ASK a presidential advisor to talk to one of her sources????????
Unbelieveable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Soooo....this explains the Kerry campaign's new focus on Vietnam - they're following the advice of Burkett! :)
The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.
Honestly, I thought this thing would now die out, but it appears that, in fact, the friends of Francois have their fingers in this . . . or do I detect a Clinton moment?
Blatant lies.
Check the archives in various newspapers for Kerry campaign press releases. They were pushing stories about the President's TANG service as far back as August.
This was exactly the time frame when Burkette was boasting he'd contacted Cleland about some information about the President for a 'counterattack'.
They are lying. Whenever they open their mouths.
Hey Lockhart, why not also disclose the phone calls between you and Clintons (both of them) regarding this matter? Go ahead - you'll feel better.
Lockhart pulls off the rare Double Weasel in one paragraph! First, he claims that he "does not recall" talking to Burkett about the documents. Right. The biggest story in the campaign, perhaps in Lockhart's political life, a conversation that occured recently, and Lockhart "does not recall." Right. Next, a non-denial denial: "it's baseless to say" Kerry was involved. That is so far short of "we had absolutely nothing to do with it." Sounds more like: you don't have any hard evidence. Yet.

The embattled Kerry campaign enlists Hillary Clinton strategist Howard Wolfson.
Finding himself in the underdog position yet again, John Kerry has brought in Clintonites like Howard Wolfson, architect of Hillarys Senate victory. Since the consultants arrival in D.C. last week, the Kerry camp has gone on the attack, accusing the president of being awol during his National Guard duty. Jada Yuan spoke to Wolfson by phone.
So, when did the campaign approach you?
I got a call from the communications director, Stephanie Cutter, two weeks ago while I was having dinner in Nantucket, on vacation, asking me to come onboard. And then from somebody who had worked at the Clinton White House.
So youre not at Kerrys headquarters?
Im at the DNC. I visit the offices from time to time. But theres a lot of instant messaging. I love IM. I live my life on IM.
What are you in a position to do now?
This week, weve been holding George Bush accountable for his lies over his National Guard service, and weve been very aggressive about that. I make no apologies for that.
From the September 20, 2004 issue of New York Magazine.
HAHAHAHAHA! That was a good one!
The 'Rats are coming clean on this call because they suspect that its existence is going to come out anyway.
This is nothing more than a way of promoting an "innocent explanation" for:
1. A call from Joe Lockhart to Bill Burkett.
2. A call from a CBS producer to Joe Lockhart.
In other words, a "modified limited hangout": they assume the calls are going to become known anyway (probably because they don't trust the unstable Burkett to keep his mouth shut). So, get some misinformation out there on the record.
All we can say for sure is that the calls took place. What was actually said could be anything -- except what has been admitted to.
Another set of dots...
Collusion between CBS and the Kerry campaign. That must be the political operatives old Dan Rather was really referring to when the critics questioned the documents.
