(CBS) Below is the text of the CBS News statement on its use of documents purportedly written by President Bush's National Guard commander:

Bill Burkett, in a weekend interview with CBS News Anchor and Correspondent Dan Rather, has acknowledged that he provided the now-disputed documents used in the Sept. 8 "60 Minutes Wednesday" report on President Bush’s service in the Texas Air National Guard.

Burkett, a retired National Guard lieutenant colonel, also admits that he deliberately misled the CBS News producer working on the report, giving her a false account of the documents’ origins to protect a promise of confidentiality to the actual source.

True, they are two separate organizations (ANG/AG). But in the minds of civilians, there is no differentiation.

Criminal liablity is the next phase. Burkett has undergone psychological treatment before for a nervous breakdown.

Plus, CBS might use him as the fall guy with an added bonus later (if he doesn't squeal).

I think it's hilarious that Dan is tapdancing away, not coming out and admitting the truth, but being so very Nixonian about this incredible LIE. As a talk radio host here in Boston points out, the forgery is the equivalent of a cop planting a gun on a suspect--"It doesn't matter if the evidence is fault, you KNOW he's guilty of something, let's talk about that."

That the Left aren't decrying this shows how utterly bankrupt they are. They're also in denial--the sham that the MSM are somehow MAINSTREAM and not liberal has come undone.

Nothing has changed with one exception. The limo/Gulf Stream elites who own and control the MSM, now own and control the Rat party. They determine who the rat candidates are. Then, they keep them in office or dispose of them.
