A worried Matt Drudge reported on his radio show tonight that the Secret Service is on the trail of several people intent on assassinating President Bush.
Drudge said the news story is not his, but that "those in the know" know what he's talking about.
He said more will be reported in the coming days.
Drudge pleaded with his fellow Americans to let the political process play out and to not descend to killing presidential candidates.
The enemy within is very real. God bless our President and keep him safe.

I am surprized it has not been tried yet. I would not be surprized if Osama tries to get him first and use one of our own people who hate Bush! He needs our prayers!
He often wears a vest. I recall right after 9/11 when he threw the opening pitch in Yankee Stadium, It appeared that he might have had the full ceramic plate-type vest. And he still threw a curveball strike.
Fact is, there's probably multiple threats made on the President every day. Most are meaningless talk. A few are more serious. Occasionally, I would hazard a guess that the USSS thwarts an attempt either directly or through creating the scenario where most plans cannot be carried out.
It is odd though that this would suddenly become newsworthy on Drudge. The only thing I can think of is that an outside threat is being dealt with. Still, most USSS activity is done in a relatively stealth mode.

I agree with the 'unhinged' theory. In my small hometown and the small city nearby (50 miles apart) the Repub headquarters was fired upon with bullet holes found in the windows while celebrants had been watching the Repub convention.
Two weeks later, Phil Parlock and his 3 year old daughter were assaulted at the airport and her signs shredded making national news and pics.
There is much hatred out there. I would not put ANYTHING past W detractors these days.
Okay .. we can get a prayer of agreement going which will not allow anything to happen to our President.

Since President Bush has submitted his life to GOD, then the promise of Isa 54:17 is for him and should be confessed like this:
CONFESSION: [Thank you Father GOD that your Word says - NO WEAPON formed against President Bush, or his family or his administration, can prosper, and every tongue that rises up against him is condemned already.]
Let's let our faith protect our President who cares so much about us.

Politically the biggest worry is actually that of a staged 'sympathy' assassination of John Kerry by the left framed to appear as a hit from the right.
You are right. That is the way some of them think, but I am sure the USSS is aware of such a motive and is guarding against it.

Well, this same 'psychic' predicted that 5 cruise ships would blow up in Miami on August 15th. Didn't happen. 'False prophet' - case closed.
I agree .. if an attempt is made .. the public will re-elect Bush by a 100-1 margin.
People know that there are no repubs out there talking about killing or shooting any dems.
