Dan Rather is the person who decided to use them against President Bush.
It is amazing what hypnotic power the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy has over hapless democrats. They made Dan Rather bet his reputation on the fake memos, in spite of the objections of CBS's own experts and Killian's family. They also made Bill Clinton drop his pants with Monica and then lie about it.
Bingo. Let's suppose Karl Rove (in Bizarro world) comes out and says, "Yeah, I wrote them, and I faxed them."
Does that do anything to exonerate Dan Rather and CBS? Not in the least.
