Nothing new of note over at casa "teh crazy" this fine morning.

I have been asked for a brief recap on yesterday's findings...

Dr. Frisch "made an appearance" in Arraignment Court on August 21, 2006

The criminal charges were:
  • Misdemeanor Stalking
  • Misdemeanor Telephonic Harassment
  • Another charge of Misdemeanor Telephonic Harassment
She pled "Not Guilty", paid $4000 in bail (or $400 to a bail bondsman) and left the courthouse.

The DA: Emem O. Ibanga

Most of this information comes from the Lane County docket (PDF)

The rest is speculation.

Someone in the comments (I can't find it now) mentioned that the folks at the Lane County Courthouse are very helpful over the phone and will provide any public information on the case. If that person (or someone else local) could call back and find out just who signed the complaint and report back (sinsblog at softhome dot net) the VBSers would be very grateful as well as any future prospective employers that will find this information here.

Anonymous tips are welcome.

DEBORAH FRISCH UPDATE: "As far as we know, she is now the first troll of the political blogosphere to face criminal charges relating to that activity."

This post was co-written with Tim Dreier of The One-Handed Economist; both of us are graduates of the University of Oregon in Eugene, where Deb Frisch now lives. As a matter of full disclosure, we’ve had a few scrapes with Frisch of our own, having trolled the blog of a student magazine we both once edited. That’s covered below. For previous Blog P.I. coverage, see here and here.

The saga of Deborah Frisch, long-time comment troll and all-around kook, took another troubling, but not exactly unforeseeable turn in the last 48 hours. As far as we know, she is now the first troll of the political blogosphere to face criminal charges relating to such activity. On August 21 she was arraigned in an Oregon courtroom on charges of stalking and telephone harassment (PDF). The docket can be found at the link preceding...

Prepare for the mighty INSTALANCHE!!!!!

Not us directly, but one of the VBS kids get the primary 'lanche, we are linked up in the referenced post.

A second order 'lanche!

Welcome all newbies!

See the sidebar for the DHD Lexicon and dive right in, the water's fine!

The only rule is that you at least try to stay away from the actual Dr. Deb site. The lack of hits is good for her recovery.

For the record—

A number of people have contacted me privately about Deb Frisch’s reported arrest of a few days ago.  So far as we can determine at this time, that arrest in Eugene is unrelated to Frisch’s actions concerning my family and me. 49 Comments2 Trackbacks

I guess Ace had plenty reasons on which to base his ‘pants-crapping’ schtick.  And I can see now why Allah would be so miffed at all the August 22 business.

The Primary Difference Between Kathy Shaidle And Me

While I was contemplating a post this evening that began and ended with;

saw.jpg

Shaidle was busy writing this.

Women do earn less than men, but not when they do the same job. Women make less overall because they choose stupid, easy jobs like secretarial work or waitressing or retail and are too lazy, timid or unambitious to do much else. They think some Prince Charming will come along one day anyway, so why bother?

Women with real careers take time out to raise children, as they should. But this means they necessarily forfeit promotions and seniority that would raise their salaries. Also, it is simply a fact that most women aren't interested in engineering and other male oriented jobs, even if they have the ability, which few do. Our brains are different. When someone points this out, outraged women don't respond with calm, rational talking points -- they throw hormonal hissy fits which simply undermine their own arguments! (Women suck at math, but they are geniuses at chronic self sabotage).

Great minds think alike. Mine is just better at cutting to the chase.

Troll Patrol

Blog P.I.;

The saga of Deborah Frisch, longtime comment troll and all-around kook, took another troubling, but not exactly unforeseeable turn in the last 48 hours. As far as we know, she is now the first troll of the political blogosphere to face criminal charges relating to such activity. [...]

According to Don’t Hire Deb, a blog devoted to documenting Frisch’s outrageous behavior while depriving her own site of traffic, Frisch posted either $4,000 bail or $400 to a bondsman, and must reappear in court on September 25th. As is speculated in DHD comments and elsewhere, this likely stems not from Frisch’s well-publicized Jeff Goldstein-related misadventures (to the best of our knowledge she’s never called him) but rather similar interactions with former colleagues at University of Oregon (where she was denied tenure in 1994 and served as an adjunct until July 2001) including calling, emailing, and a quickly-removed post to her blog.

Lots more there, with generous linkage.

A cautionary tale for some of the disturbed individuals who smear through here from time to time.

For the record, I have made, and do not intent to make, a single thin dime from this site. If you want to tip me, tip Jeff instead and let me know so I can update the Jeff-o-meter in the sidebar. Of course, there are ... what are they called... advertisements on the page...

That revenue also goes to Jeff.

Raising the Deb-O-Meter... it looks to be ON

I wonder who Dr. Deb is talking about:
ciao, creeps

There are pi types of people who visit south(west)paw.

Type 1: Concerned friends, family, former colleagues who may or may not be potential targets, etc.

Type 2: Curious and interested observers hoping for a positive outcome (i.e., Coal bear ray pour!)

Type 3: Curious and interested observers (a.k.a., trainwreckers) hoping for a negative outcome

Type .14159: everyone else.

The Type 1 people and me (whatcha gonna du, grammar kop- lok mee upp?) are getting tired of the Type 3 people. We think that you are a bad influence on me and serve to inflame my rage instead of assisting me in expressing my many passionate beliefs and opinions in an effective manor (just joe king!).

So here's the deal, creeps. There is a kind of yin site that serves as the sissified outpost of the original south(west)paw. That's where all the sissy stalkers hang out. You can all post to your shriveled hearts' contents over there. No more comments on or about "teh cray zee" any more here at south(west)paw or any other post I deem uncommentable on. The drone over there will cut and paste my words and all you denny cranes and amandas and sullas and other assorted losers with life deficiency disorder can have your phun.

COMMENT ARE CLOSED.

Kapish, creeps?

Congrats Denny, and Sulla! You make the "big time"! I bow to your superior batfrischiness. She never has any love for a lowly Sinner. [sigh]

Oddly enough, I think I am in group #2. Maybe my definition of "positive outcome" is not the same as hers.

I just want to say how much it hurts me to be called "assorted losers with life deficiency disorder". Until this very minute, rushing in to check the news and then rushing out to do some important non-life activities with my family, I didn't know that I had no life. I must have no life because Dr. Deb says so and she has a PhD.

I gotta work on that.

Status of Women agency under attack in blogosphere (!) [ 1, 2 ] --I can do naught but laugh at some of the shrieking in the comments section. One in particular refered to " this vital agency" ... just how vital can an agency be that has actually accomplished nothing in the last 35 years? I see that Angry in the Great White North has posted about this:
http://www.stevejanke.com/archives/193914.php
Knowing what you know about the Status of Women Canada Agency:
1)The exclusivity/discriminatory nature of the Status of Women
(they consistently decline to fund groups like "Real Women" which have conservative perspectives) http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2006/apr/06040702.html

2) the notable annual budget of SWC ($23 million)

3) the questionable nature of some of their projects, such as Women's History Month (even if you agree with the sentiment behind this issue, why isn't Heritage Canada handling this topic?) their funding of the homosexual agenda http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2004/jun/04061405.html
and their past funding of anti-Christian bigotry http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2005/sep/05090102.html

Essentially, the liberals want to surrender, and accept terrorism, rape, and other acts of violence as a form of jizya that we have to pay. We all remember the argument from Moore, that more people die from car accidents.

Steyn was great. He was articulate, well informed, and full of great insights that one can only hope moonbat America haters will hear and ponder with an open mind.

#66 Doss you've recounted a very important point that Steyn(not an American) makes:

If we bail on Iraq, the Dems see that as taking down Bush, but the rest of the world doesn't care about internal U.S. politics, and would view this (properly) as a United States defeat - not Bush's loss, the country's loss.

Trolls, Censorship and Leftist Insanity [A lib troll and pals discuss how to disrupt NewsBusters]

First They Came For the Jews: The Story of Yet Another World War--I have seen so many lies and half-truths by Western mainstream media exposed in the blogosphere, especially related to Islam, that I no longer trust them for information. Leading bloggers such as Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs recently demonstrated this by showing how photos distributed by international news service Reuters from Lebanon had been grossly manipulated to make Israel look bad. Blogger Zombie argued, in a very convincing way, that the story about Israel deliberately targeting ambulances in Lebanon was full of holes, quite possibly a complete fabrication. It proves how easily, willingly, many Western journalists believe every piece of nonsense Muslims feed them, as long as it's directed against Israel, the United States or the West in general.

Status Of Feminists

Memo to Jennifer Ditchburn of via Macleans: I'd like to draw your attention to something -

Several pro-Conservative Internet blogs have signed onto a campaign to eliminate Status of Women Canada, a Trudeau-era federal agency that promotes women's equality and advancement.

The campaign was kickstarted by REAL Women of Canada, one of Canada's most vocal organizations of social conservatives. It has long urged the federal government to axe Status of Women - but this time its message is being widely discussed and supported among some in the Conservative Internet community.

[...]

But fears that the campaign might find favour within a caucus that includes many social conservatives have taken root in some quarters.

Halifax communications consultant and blogger Audra Williams has mounted her own counter-offensive, urging readers to write to their MP in support of Status of Women Canada.

"This actually turns my blood to ice," Williams wrote last week. "I am calling my MP right now. I mean, I know she's on board, but still I am calling her."

It isn't just "social conservatives" who want the "Harper government to axe Status of Women Canada" and marginalizing their critics in such a manner is disingenuous - at best. Had you bothered to report on who and what SOW spends our taxdollars on, those fearful squeals from feminists might have been placed in the appropriate context.

This quote from Monica Lysack of the Child Care Advocacy Association of Canada is particularly ridiculous:

"When you look at women in Canada and their human rights compared to international standards, we have a long way to go."

What complete and utter bullshit. Modern organized feminism has nothing to do with human rights for women, and everything to do with pushing the agenda of the left - the word "Women" in Status Of Women reduced to a device to ensure continued government funding.

If this were not the case, if SOW genuinely functioned as a voice on "womens issues" in Canada, the organization would maintain official political neutrality on issues like abortion and child care. There would have been no us-vs-them content in the Ditchburn article, because the "social conservatives" she refers to would be playing a meaningful role in policy development within the organization.

Pamela Bone, in the Australian, illustrates how (like the word "progressive") the word "women" has been quietly appropriated as yet another euphanism for "the hard left";

IN Tehran in June, several thousand people held a peaceful demonstration calling for legal changes that would give a woman's testimony in court equal value to a man's. The demonstrators, most of them women, were attacked with tear gas and beaten with batons by men and women from Iran's State Security Forces, according to Amnesty International.

Iranian women may not travel without their husband's permission but they are allowed to wield a truncheon against other women.

Do you think women in Western countries marched in solidarity with the Iranian women demonstrators? Of course not. Do you think there are posters and graffiti at universities condemning the Iranian President? Of course not. You know, without needing to go there, that any graffiti at universities will be condemning George W. Bush, not Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. (I concede Bush is easier to spell.)

You know, before you get there, that at the Melbourne Writers Festival starting this weekend the principal hate figures are going to be Bush and John Howard. You know there will be many sympathetic references to David Hicks but probably none to Ashraf Kolhari, an Iranian mother of four who has been in jail for five years for allegedly having sex outside marriage and, until last week, who was under sentence of death by stoning.
Thank goddess, as they used to say: a few Western feminists have begun to wonder why women who once marched for women's rights are marching alongside people who would take away even the most basic of those rights.

The latest is Sarah Baxter, a former Greenham Common protester, who in Britain's The Sunday Times had this to say about a recent demonstration in London calling for a ceasefire in Lebanon: "Women pushing their children in buggies bearing the familiar symbol of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament marched alongside banners proclaiming 'We are all Hezbollah now', and Muslim extremists chanting, 'Oh Jew, the army of Mohammed will return'.

"I could never have imagined that many of the same crowd I hung out with then would today be standing shoulder to shoulder with militantly anti-feminist Islamic fundamentalist groups whose views on women make Western patriarchy look like a Greenham peace picnic."

A little late to the game, Ms. Baxter is.

More reaction...

This is nothing more than nest building by a bunch of well paid socialists that are on the government teat.  GET RID of SOW. This is an important issue. It's actually about accountability of the use of the taxpayer's money. It has nothing to do with the CPC government, with 'conservativism', or even with political ideology.

The status of women in Canada compared to international standards

I'm a man, so what do I know? But I know how to research. So when someone makes a factual statement on why women in this country need a government department to help them, I figure I should be able to find some data to support that assertion.

Once upon a browser dreary, while I burrowed, blitzed and bleary
Into many a faint and furious posting from some ill-begotten bore,
Suddenly there came an inkling, and I found my eyebrows wrinkling,
Like some Yorkie, softly tinkling on a cold, unpapered floor.
I clicked on a destination I had ne'er been to before;
Right-wing websites need me more.

Ah, distinctly I remember, it was in my quest for tenure,
That had launched my trip to Ragnarok in nineteen ninety-four.
I've compiled a list of people - some are villains, some just sheeple -
Who derailed my lifetime gravy train; and that is why I'm poor.
I should be an honored scholar at that school in Eugene, OR.
But I don't teach there no more.

After seven years of drudging I broke camp and started trudging
To a governmental posting in the Beltway corridor
In my quest for veneration I gave cash from my foundation

The San Francisco Chronicle slimes

hartlaub.jpg

This is Peter Hartlaub. He is the San Francisco Chronicle's pop-culture critic and "helps cover movies, television and the media," according to his bio. In addition to his newspaper duties, Hartlaub blogs for the paper's "Culture Blog." One of his latest posts is an astonishingly ugly, ad hominem attack on Ann Coulter--emblematic of the unhinged, intolerant Left. And it's posted on a "culture" blog.

The jerk compares Coulter to a horse at a children's zoo. He mocks her weight and her face by linking to sophomoric left-wing bloggers deriding her looks--including this, this, and this. He posts photos he took of the horse alongside photos of Coulter, then sits back and waits for Chronicle blog commenters to pile on. Here are a few screenshots of the post and comments as of 12am Sat. Aug. 26. The post has been up since 2am Wed. Aug. 23: File this one away the next time the journalistic elite attacks bloggers as an unruly, uncivilized mob of hate-mongers in need of adult supervision. Under the guise of "culture" commentary, San Francisco Chronicle staffer/blogger Peter Hartloub displays the true colors of the moonbat mainstream media: slime green. Naturally, the anti-Coulter-obsessed staffers at media industry publication Editor and Publisher think Hartlaub's post is funny.

Rewriting History at Editor & Publisher

Unbelievable. After the blogosphere picked up on his 2003 article revealing that he faked a news story while working at the Niagara Gazette, the editor of Editor and Publisher, Greg Mitchell (or someone covering for him), apparently went in and edited the 3-year old article to make him look less guilty: The More Things Change...

Here’s the original first paragraph, still retained in The Internet Wayback Machine. (Hat tip: Ed Driscoll.) And here’s the edited version: ‘E&P’ Editor Had a ‘Jayson Blair’ Moment?

PAYBACK IS A BITCH:

Lieberman -- who after losing an Aug. 8 Democratic primary to Ned Lamont has launched a third-party bid to hold onto his seat in the Nov. 7 general election -- was asked whether he still endorses Diane Farrell, Joe Courtney and Chris Murphy, three Democrats looking to unseat endangered Republican incumbents Chris Shays, Rob Simmons and Nancy Johnson.

“I’m a non-combatant,” Lieberman declared. “I am not going to be involved in other campaigns. I think it’s better if I just focus on my own race.”

Why are the netroots surprised by this? You guys stuck a knife into him. Of course he'll stick you back. And I suspect that this is only the beginning.
