I think he was questioning his manhood ;) and his "heroics" something I've been questioning since he brought that video cam with him to Vietnam.

You know, it is interesting that we haven't been treated to Kerry's letters home. I haven't read "Tour of Duty," but one would think some letters should have surfaced somewhere.
Maybe he was too busy making movies.
