Canadian crews are already in Florida to help. They have been there so long they are rotating new crews in while leaving their equipment on-scene.

"All costs incurred by NB Power in the effort will be recouped from host power utilities receiving the assistance. NB Power spokesman Jeffrey Carleton said the utility has received thank-yous from several Americans."

Maybe we can make that several THOUSAND Americans, if the FReepers and lurkers reading this thread can take a moment to say thank you.

Thanks, commish, for starting this thread. I am one of (most likely) many who've avoided posting so we wouldn't jam the threads, but we're anxious to hear from ya'll.

HUge Kudo's to Alabama Power, Dixie Electric Cooperative, and Central Alabama Electric Cooperative. Power has already been restored to a majority of homes in the Montgomery metropolitan area (Montgomery, Prattville, Millbrook, Wetumpka).

Just got a report from MY Stepsons father -- Lots of damage in Fairhope - trees down, roof gone, trees on cars, trees on houses etc. His house has a tree sitting through the living room and extensive water damage, but will be repairable

Gulf Shores is still inaccessable, he was stopped in Foley even though he has a house in Gulf Shores. Was told the house is a total loss as are most of the homes in Gulf Shores, Condos have also been severely damaged. Most Condos have lost the First floor and taken damage to the second floor and lost windows throughout the rest of the building. Said Foley looks like a war zone. Trees down everywhere. All stoplights are ripped down, roofs laying everywhere. Gonna take months to clean up and years to rebuild the area. My Brother is attempting to find a route into Pensacola and over into his customers in Alabama, but probably won't get in until tomorrow or Monday. Will send more reports if I hear anything. Stepsons dad is on his way back to Montgomery.
