I live in Panama City Beach about 300 feet from the water and at an elevation of 30 feet, give or take. Other than minimal wind damage and a small leak over my kitchen, I had no other damage that I know of. I'll have the roof shingles replaced by tomorrow. I'm certainly glad I boarded up all the windows. Had lots of tree branches down.
Have 28 palm trees in my yard.

Amazingly, none of my bee hives were knocked over or even displaced. Even more amazing, as Ivan moved north through Alabama and the then tropical forces winds continued, my bees kept flying. Incredible creatures.

I must be living right because I did not lose power or telephone service during the storm (we had hurricane force winds as Ivan made landfall followed by 60-90 MPH winds through the night. My block was the only one with power I learned today.

I have friends in Pensacola and Ft. Walton and have been unable to contact them. My prayers go out to all those folks in the western Panhandle and in south Alabama. It will be a long time before some sense of normalcy returns.

Thanks again to those who prayed for me. I was Freeping when Ivan came a callin'.

I forgot to add that during clean-up today, I found a twisted metal sign in my yard under some palm branches. The sign said: American Red Cross across the top with a Red Cross in the middle. On the bottom it read: Disaster Resistant Neighborhood.

I've no idea where the sign came from and do not recall seeing it on Front Beach Road.
