One of the things that restrains me is that I'm not good at fisticuffs: the moves I learned in the USMC are intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

Good point. No matter how you do that, those people can use a good "witch slapping" as well as the "total smackdown" delivered to them in spades. It seems like these people are getting less and less civil each day. There only one small step better than the Islamo-Fascists in my opinion and that is not saying much.
