I see a distinction in using a child to support a candidate and to protest a candidate.

Consider the scenario of another father using a 3-yr old for a cause that you would disagree with - KKKs or Bikers for drugs or something. Wouldn't you think the father was abusing his control over his daughter by having her hold a confrontational sign.
