Just an FYI: even if the drives were formatted, data can be recovered.

google "data recovery" "formatted" (with the double quotes).

As another add. to what has already been said, Unless the drives were pulverized into dust,the data can still be retrieved. No matter how many times its been formated, even if you use those so called "Shredder" programs for computers.:)
