Political insider and journalist Glenn W. Smith is offering a coveted look from a man that has covered politics as a journalist, managed campaigns and been a business colleague of advisor to former President Clinton

GLEN W. SMITH, of moveon.org fame, presents the Politics of Deceit : Saving Freedom and Democracy from Extinction.

the author reveals why our political customs threaten democracy and freedom with extinction, and illustrates how we can ultimately fix the problems. Among the most hopeful advances for freedom and democracy is the development of new interactive media, including the successful efforts of MoveOn.org and other online groups. Smith skillfully argues that our shrugging acceptance of the politics of manipulation doesn’t mean our political practices are right or just--it just lends a credible advantage to politicians like George W. Bush, who would mislead rather than lead, and who believe their own power is paramount to the health of democracy.

Smith is a former managing director at the consulting firm Public Strategies, which employs former Texas Governor Ann Richards.

“Texans for Truth plans to spend $100,000 to $200,000 to run the ad for a week in closely contested states that are home to large numbers of families of US troops killed in Iraq.”
