I think the employer is a jerk to fire her. What relevance does her bumper sticker have to job performance? If the shoe were on the other foot and she were fired for having a Bush/Cheney bumper sticker (and something very likely to happen in the blue state I'm in), you'd be singing a different tune.
Who's to say its true?
If she's parking in his parking lot I guess he has every right to not want he political advertising on his property...and she has every right to find another job.
If that's the only reason for her firing, then the boss shouldn't have done it. He should have shown her the error of her ways. I have to deal with a lot of Kerry supporters, and just try to be pleasant and defeat all their stereotypes of mean, racist, warmongering Republicans. Who knows, I may win one over.
Of course, if someone is stupid enough to support Kerry, is it even possible that she'd do a decent job or be the slightest bit responsible? I don't know, but I tend to think she should have been fired only for poor performance or for violation of established company policy or rules.
She serves at the employer's pleasure. He can fire her for any damned reason he wishes. When you attain that status of employer, make a valid comment. Until then, STFU, jerk.
She wasn't fired, she quit.
It doesn't really say, but I think that maybe this lady was campaigning on the job.
Why else would the boss tell her "you can work for him or you can work for me"?
I doubt a business owner is dumb enough to fire someone for a bumper sticker on their vehicle...even a really offensive one such as the one this lady had.
