And, after all my earlier training on manual typewriters, I still break three keyboards a year on the job. As Poohbah put it, "the ninja-typewriter fingers of death".

I think I kept my first keyboard in my office for about eight years. Sorta like the velveteen rabbit; a few keys had visible dimples worn in them, and the left-shift was even worn enough to create a small hole, but as I told my coworkers it 'fits my hands'. Unfortunately, it quit working so I had to get a new one with those infernal "Windows keya" on it, but I liked it. That thing probably had more life left in it after five years of use than most keyboards would have when new.

The headline is misleading. The article is about exposing Dan Rather, not assaulting Kerry. And this writer has the nerve to assassinate the character of "righty bloggers?"

The New York Post is probably getting more attention with this scurilous article than they have all year.

Message from Iraq

The proud warriors of Baker Company wanted to do something to pay tribute To our fallen comrades. So since we are part of the only Marine Infantry Battalion left in Iraq the one way that we could think of doing that is By taking a picture of Baker Company saying the way we feel. It would be awesome if you could find a way to share this with our fellow countrymen. I was wondering if there was any way to get this into your papers to let the world know that "WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN" and are proud to serve our country." Semper Fi 1stSgt Dave Jobe

You raise a good point -- why would somebody who questioned Dan Rather's documents about George W. Bush be a Kerry assaulter? I thought Kerry had nothing to do with the story?

In case you missed this:

APPROACH THIS MAN CAREFULLY: The race is on to score an interview with Walter Staudt, the former commander of the Texas National Guard and the man the infamous CBS documents allege pressured Killian to "sugar coat" Bush's performance review. Staudt might be able to clear some things up for everyone, but story after story over the last few days has frustratingly reported that he won't return anyone's phone calls. Time even sent a reporter out to knock on Staudt's door, but the octogenarian didn't answer. It's not a surprise. Staudt doesn't seem to be a big fan of the media or the Guard story. Here's what he told the Spokane Spokesman-Review earlier this year:

"I love the guy," Staudt said of Bush. "I'm so tired of this negative crap about him that I'd like to volunteer to build a barn and take you press guys out behind it and kick your asses."

Maybe that Time reporter should get hazardous duty pay.

Namely, viewing the document on a TV screen from a presumed distance of six to a dozen feet. Folks who make their living at this sort of thing rely on magnifying glasses, if not microscopes.

Referring to Buckhead. How was he able to weigh in and give the type style. I didn't see the show since I have no interest in watching Rather's lie after lie. But what's the take on that?

Because the author deliberately left out the fact that the docs were posted on cbsnews.com soon after the show aired.

...and that it doesn't take a lawyer or an activist to see that the documents were created by Microsoft Word, not a typewriter.

Mr. Kerry’s usual guides in tough spots—polls and focus groups—delivered a mixed message, so this time he was on his own.

A great illustration of how Kerry normally operates by constantly checking the wind direction, then how he malfunctions when he tries to check the wind in a hurricane of his own making.

Before plunging in, an admission: Your correspondent doesn’t have a clue whether the documents in question are genuine.

Dumbass.

I stopped right there.

Did this idiot ever get around to actually saying something intelligent? Or is he a democRat?
