Sen. John Kerry claimed Wednesday morning that he has released all the records he has on his service in the military, suggesting that an unnamed third party was holding up the release of his full Navy file.
Asked about a Washington Post report last month saying that Kerry had yet to authorize the release of nearly one hundred pages from his Navy file, Kerry told radio host Don Imus, "My military records that [the Navy] sent to me were posted on my web site. You can go to my web site and all my, you know - the documents are there."
When pressed on whether all his records had already been released, Kerry said that "to the best of my knowledge" they had. "I think some of the medical stuff may still be out there. We're trying to get it," he added.
On August 22 the Post reported:
"Although Kerry campaign officials insist that they have published Kerry's full military records on their Web site (with the exception of medical records shown briefly to reporters earlier this year), they have not permitted independent access to his original Navy records. A Freedom of Information Act request by The Post for Kerry's records produced six pages of information. A spokesman for the Navy Personnel Command, Mike McClellan, said he was not authorized to release the full file, which consists of at least a hundred pages."
But when reminded that the paper had challenged his claim of full disclosure, Kerry repeated, "Well, we released everything that [the Navy] initially sent me."
Imus did not ask the top Democrat whether he would sign the Navy's Form 180, which would authorize the release of all documents the Pentagon currently has in Kerry's military file.
The full exchange went like this:
IMUS: A Freedom of Information Act request by the Washington Post regarding your military records produced six pages of information - while the spokesman for the Navy personnel command said there were at least a hundred pages of information available, but he was not authorized to release them. Why can't we see this stuff?
KERRY: We posted to - my military records that they sent to me were posted on my web site. You can go to my web site and all my. you know - the documents are there.
IMUS: So, everything's available?
KERRY: Ahhh - to the best of my knowledge - ah - I think some of the medical stuff may still be out there. We're trying to get it.
IMUS: The Washington Post doesn't think that it's all available. They could go to your web site. Maybe they did.
KERRY: Well, we released everything that they initially sent me. [END OF EXCERPT]
KERRY IS A LIAR! He's been lying since 1971. He continues to lie.
He actually did release all of his military records before he unreleased them.
That question and the question about his 'honorable' discharge!
Are partisans so stupid that they don't even want to KNOW if Kerry's military records back what he has said? Why didn't I'm Ass ask him this morning about the 180 Request Form?
The Swift Boat Vets have cases they're going through. The "good" stuff, like validations of what they've claimed.
Kerry isn't "lying". It depends on the meaning of the words "military sent me."
He posted all those the military sent to him, i.e., only those he requested. He simply didn't request the rest, the damaging parts, to be sent to him.
Interesting during the FREEPCBS Days email and fax form 180 to CBS news and all media.
BTW ALL: CC FOX NEWS AND OTHER OUTLETS WITH EVERYTHING YOU SEND TO CBS!
Because Kerry has given TWO interviews (3 if you count John Stewart) since August 1st, both to friendly journalists.
In other words, the Prince of Nantucket won't let anyone get near him enough to ask the question.
who was on fox news last night discussing what the President had to do with Kerry in the debate? The person said Kerry lied so much..that he was a great debater and that the President needs to review the Gov. Weld/Kerry debate.
He only asked for the Navy to send him certain documents that would look good on his web site. He needs to be asked to release all the records the Navy has.
Tell Imus that Kerry went on the show and lied to him. I did. imus@msnbc.com
My bet is that the Kerry campaign did their own FOIA request a year ago, and they posted everything on their website that they received. So technically they can say they have released all the records that they received.
Imus should have pushed the missing 100 pages that cannot be obtained through a FOIA request. THAT is the main issue. How did the Swifties get the after action report? ... Maybe they can get the 100 pages with the same process.
I guess that is why he flip flops
Imus knew that was a lie!!!
Both William Weld and John O'Neill separately stated that Kerry, in debate, will just tell total lies and catch his opponent off guard.
I myself have noticed this. The man just lies.
He came down here to FL and told the Cubans he voted against resuming trade with Castro, when in actuality he voted for it. He's totally brazen about it.
That is why he is such a good debater. He flusters his opponent by saying outrageous, untrue things. Hey, whatever wins, right? He's an ambitious man, with a morality problem. Sound familiar?
You would think people would have had enough it this with Clinton.
But with Kerry, it "isn't just about sex". It's about everything.
Kerry lies and lies. This interview cost him votes.
Kerry is an amazingly bad politician!
How did this BOZO every get elected to anything??!!
Look where he ran!! Kennedy country!! The same people who had Dukakis as Gov.!!!
"We released all the records we intended to release!"
