The regulations must be followed, adds James Currie, a retired colonel and author of an official history of the Army Reserve. "Clearly, if you were the average poor boy who got drafted and sent into the active force," he says, "they weren't going to let you out before you had completed your obligation."
First, this is an army colonel, and therefore his knowledge of the practices within the Texas Air National Guard is open to question. But more importantly, his criticism applies equally to Kerry's early exit from his obligation. So either neither of them got preferential treatment, or both did.
Bush family, contributers must be paying him to be this stupid. Maybe he wants a little finacial independence from obnoxious wife. Is tired of being a kept man.
120 days, let's see. Hey! That's 4 months, same as Kerry! Oh, yes but Kerry got ribbons and medals...
"another shot at Pres. Bush from US News & World Report "
don't ya love it!
Lt Bush got an honorable discharge. Now the USN&WR thinks their reporterette can interpret service regulations better than the AF and NG!
geesh, will these people get a life? decide to cover something within their realm of expertise? or at least report on something more important?

"Does this evidence directly contradict the forged documents?"
no, this is not about the forged documents
it is about something even lamer
the Dims think that Bush LIED when his old TX campaign brochure stated that he had served in the Air Force and the TX Air National Guard.
They are not only disputing that he served in the Air Force, but that it is a character-flawed LIE for him to claim he did!!
Willie told Kerry TWICE to get off the Vietnam thing, but Nooooo......ol' John is determined to personally crash the whole campaign.
UHOH...I just got another conspiracy thought....
I wonder if Kerry didnt think he could trust Clinton's advice because he was REALLY Brutus trying to bump him out of the way for Lady McBeth??
So, when CLinton told him to drop the VM thing, he decided to frame the whole rest of his campaign on it??
BTW...ROVE is AWESOME. He's a man among boys in this campaign. He's seen the outcome of a tactic before the dems have even thought of using it.
Seriously, what is his damage. He is an inept boob.
"Yep. Just as I posted.

Yes, it IS the perfect foil.
Walt Starr just melted down over at "The Site That Dare Not Link Its URL"... It seems Walt Starr is about as journalistically relevant as Brenda Starr...
I have read about Carl Rove. He is a man of honor. And the hate that comes his direction from the left is so uncalled for and not deserved. Carl Rove is not a college graduate but he is a man who is smart and honest and that trumps all the degrees of the clinton gangsters combined.
As a personnel clerk at Ft Hood, TX , in the sixties, my biggest dread was to see a NG unit coming in for training. They came in in huge groups and I processed records for hours at a time. They trained at Ft. Hood as soldiers during basic or summer two weeks tng.
Our daughter, a Reserve RN (Capt.)had several weeks training (active duty for tng) when she went in but already had her BSN degree and nursing exp. She was called to active duty at Ft. Stewart, GA to replace reg. nurses shipping to the Gulf. She did the same active duty work in the hospital as the regular Army Med. Corps. She was not just there "training". She was doing regular active duty work in her medical field. She was a Reserve nurse on active duty with the army. Later she was called to active duty for a 90 day period (not for tng) and went in daily to a medical facility that served Reserve personnel.
She was Reserve, but some of the time she was a Reserve nurse on active duty with the Army, so she was active duty Army. Her training and her active duty went toward retirement points.
It seems to me that Bush was on active duty for training as a pilot, but doing active duty missions for the USAF other times--pulling reconnaissance missions was an assignment, not a duty tng. Reading all the regs in the world and splitting hairs will never make the average American understand the difference.
Where is the technical scrutiny of Kerry?
Does it really make a difference to the average citizen--the diff. between active duty for tng. and active duty, period. Can they understand it? Bush served--a lot. He completed his committment.
Did Kerry complete his committment? Or does it all get swept away by 4 months in Vietnam? Was he Reserve? Did he get deferments? I want to know. Where are his records?
The Dems are pathetic; beyond that, they take the populace for stupid; beyond that, they care for nothing but winning.

"It takes an idiot (Drudge) to act like this is actual, for real, genuine Air Force active duty.
Still laughing. "
this DU guy is SICK
so when did HE serve?
like actual for real genuine AF duty
Actually, DUDude, the entire AF and DoD thinks so; it counts toward retirement in the active force if you get enough of it
and at the moment most of it is being served in Iraq
and you laugh? at our NG in harm's way?
How dare you?
(and for those of you on the similar thread lastnight)
DID I SAY I AM OUTRAGED??
'No Spin Zone'? Right!!!!!!
O'Really? is an arrogant so and so.
I don't think the NG is any different during ADT.
My daughter summed up O'Reilly thusly: "He's a pompous blowhard, but I like him anyway."
If that's Dan Rather's meal shouldn't it be a spoon?
You can say you are POd alot, I am.
I was reading a thread they locked down becaue a newbie posted the drudgereport article, and they started flaming the newbie because he was a national guardsmen.
