KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysian Islamists are planning to protest at a concert by the German rock band Scorpions because it is "immoral and un-Islamic", say officials.
"We will be distributing pamphlets to the concert-goers, advising them to avoid social ills, not to participate in drugs and other activities," Islamic Party (PAS) youth chief Salahuddin Ayub says.
In a letter to the government the youth wing of the opposition party said the concert was an "insult" to Malaysian Muslims because it would be held just a day after an Islamic religious event, Isra' Mikhraj.
PAS had called for the concert's immediate cancellation and urged the government to apologise to Muslims, who make up some 60% of Malaysia's 25 million population.
"Such concerts would encourage hedonism and moral degradation especially among youths," Salahuddin said.
He said that it was not the first time the government had approved such concerts, noting that Scorpions had performed in 1994.
Major US rock group Linkin Park was also allowed to perform in Malaysia just before the start of the Ramadhan fasting month and pop diva Mariah Carey held a concert this year, which also coincided with an Islamic festival, he said.

So did the crazy-ass Muslims complain then? Or do they just hate METAL??

Britney is on the case. Or something.
BWHAHAHA!!! I LOVE the Scorpions...I was just rocking out to them last weekend.
"The Zoo" is a classic.
Yeah, they looked gayish. Who didn't back in 1986? But they aren't, and they rocked. These guys probably had their pick of any woman they wanted back in the day.
My favorite Scorpians CD, the Tokyo Tapes. Islamic nutcases need to move into the 21st century, even the 19th would be an improvemnet for them.
"I have to agree with the islamic mullahs on this one. the scorpians sucked in the 80's and must suck twice as hard now. Talk about exporting terrorism."
ahhhh...a Barry Manilow fan.

(thanks for the original photo, Dallas!)
NOOOOO!! MAKE IT STOP!!!
Actually, that looks pretty natural...Daschle as Klaus Meine is the best.
yeah, Barry Manilow rocks harder than the Scorps.
R.I.P. Joey Ramone
Which one is Britney?
Love em to death!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I met the Scorpions in LA at some heavy metal music convention. Boy that was a lifetime ago!
Me too! At Tower Records in 1984 (NYC), Rudy loved my shirt, but Matthias said "no kisses because of sanitary reasons" it was hysterical. I have great pictures. I saw them last year in Wilkes Barre, far greater difference that good ol Madison Square Garden.
Why is it that we have allowed this country to adopt the concept that we are all innocent until proven conservative...or christian?
Its Malaysia.
>>Its Malaysia.
I understand that.
My outrage comes from the fact that we allow the hipocrisy of the left's views of the world to go unchallenged. Anyone that is not conservative or christian is assumed innocent.
I understand that this is a fun article, "let's make fun of hair bands" and all that. But it bothers me that we don't force the leftys to take a stance on stories of this nature. We make fun of things like this, and give liberals a pass on their opposing views. If people from another culture are oppressive, that is their culture and we can't judge them. But if we don't change the pledge RIGHT NOW then our children are being brainwashed, oppressed, forced into a hatefull religion that won't accept things just because they are against their religion.
Sorry to be a buzz-kill, but the older I get, the madder I get. I am becoming my father, and in his semi-paranoid words, "If I didnt have a family I'd live in a cave. I hate people."
lol I figured that it wasn't the American release album cover. I am sure it went over well in Germany though, I have heard they are freaky like that.
Looks like SGT Barney Frank's Lonely Heart Gay Band
