Well, the pajama-clad denizens of THIS blogosphere don't HAVE to be fair to the AP. They want to come play in our jungle, they're going to have to play by OUR rules. And one of those rules is that if you claim to be a SEAL or Special Forces or a Ranger, the pajama people can forward your name to the SEALs, the SF guys, or the Rangers to check out your bonafides. The real deal is VERY SERIOUS about shutting down lying little weenies in the real world, and the Associated Press had better get with the program.

What you said! Right on. We're eye-to-eye, brother.

BTW, this may have set the new world record for fastest busting of a fake SEAL.

We have to thank the highly organised SEAL community (including former & retired as well as active SEAL officers, chiefs and POs). Every time I am near one of the big wheels in our community I hammer on this: we should be doing the same thing for the integrity of our credentials.

The big wheels usually tell me to sit down and STFU (and I say "yes sir" and do just that).

I don't think that civilians can ever understand what it is to make your name in something that is very, very hard to get into, and then see some phony dragging your name -- your unit's name -- through the mud. It's like opening the door to your house and seeing someone punching your mom. Instant fight reflex.

Notice how many phonies the Left has had lately:

Do we see a pattern emerging here...?
