You need to check this out.
Elliott Minor, the AP reporter who wrote the story, emailed me today to say that the story will be corrected:

Correction: Bush-Guard-Reax Story
ALBANY, Ga. (AP) -- In a Sept. 11 story about military retirees' reaction to new documents concerning President Bush's National Guard service, The Associated Press incorrectly identified Ahmad Majied of Albany as a former Navy SEAL. Majied assisted SEAL teams while he was in the Navy, but never was trained as a SEAL. "I should have been more specific," he said Friday.

I love it!
Okay, and that's great and all, but I'm still bothered by the way the AP reporter (Minor?) handled this.
When faced with questions, he essentially said he believed Mr. Majied because of the way he sounded, and had no intention of verifying the story further. What kind of journalism is this? And now that the reporter has been proven to have been completely wrong in not double-checking his story in the face of questions...this little correction is all they offer?
This reporter should receive some more emails about his lack of journalistic skills.
If the AP wants to use a SEAL as a reference for being Anti-Bush why aren't they using Jesse Ventura? Latest news on the Anti-Bush/Navy Seal Jesse Ventura is that he is now also Anti-Kerry!

Found her! This is a moveon.org effort.
She is not listed on the CRD System.
"I've been a lifelong Republican since I was old enough to vote and I though that Bush would be fiscally conservative. I feel betrayed. I don't believe that a government should be engaging in reckless spending, recklessly stretching the military to the point of breaking, and recklessly trying to alter the constitution that this country is built upon. That's why I'm voting for John Kerry."

Rep-Related Ventures
Other advisors are becoming involved in businesses that connect with their day jobs. Five years ago, Kim Mecklenburg, a broker with Mecklenburg & Assoc. in Los Angeles, started doing research on common attributes of successful reps. A former soldier who specialized in nuclear, biological and chemical weapons in the U.S. Marine Corps, Mecklenburg felt she knew something about the can do spirit herself, so a year ago she started a company through which she conducts workshops and seminars for brokers.
I like brokers better than most other human beings, she says. And she saw that the time was right to help her fellow brokers and help herself in the process. In a bull market, who needs me?

So we have a woman claiming to be a financial consultant who quit that business a year ago to put on seminars and workshops for financial advisors.
This is dynamite of true.
You said you can't find her on the CRD system. If this is her name and if she is a real broker then she would be on the CRD system. I will do a check myself.
Before we get too excited, let do what RATher should have done--check then double check our sources and facts.
How did you get her name?
I found it by accident. I was reading this thread:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1226343/posts
And started looking for "Republicans for Kerry" comments on the web. This message board posting came up and her name was listed. I found the moveon site and there she was again. So I googled her name and found her current company listed.
I went to the NASD site and checked her name and found nothing under her name, her current company name or her former company name.
Thanks for double checking!
I just saw her name at moveon.org
So, she is NOT an active broker. She is not NASD registered.
She filed a U-5 and is out of the business, yet she is on a John Kerry ad talking in the present tense about being a broker and putting her clients on the line--in the present tense.
Let's dig further into this and see if we can't expose another Kerry lie.
There are a few other names on that post I first sent you. and some more on the Washington Times article I linked here:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1226343/posts?page=44#44
I started looking earlier and got busy. I'll do some more looking later.
You're right. If we could find some more liars this whole moveon campaign could crumble.
Here it is, links and all. I forget what number reply the guy was "busted," but it's in the middle I believe.
Thanks Travis - I'll read it tomorrow - Bronchitus meds are calling.
