Dan Rather not knowing anything about the Temple Mount is unsurprising. The vast majority of the western media are nothing but talking heads acting like automatons reading from their auto-cues.
History to them is irrelevant. For them the reflected glow of their own vanity generally blocks out any such trifling matters as history. They fail to understand that time is linear and that we are here for a purpose. For them the idea that we are here to make the world a better place for those yet to come is subservient to their desire for ego enhancement and their pursuit of vacuous hedonism and comfort. They probably never have even considered what people in the past may have dreamed and hoped for.
Reflection and contemplation for them are words to look up in a dictionary.
