*****Important alert*****

School officials told to be on lookout for spying

WASHINGTON - The Education Department has alerted school leaders nationwide to watch for people spying on their buildings as a possible sign of a terrorist threat.
(snip)

In particular, schools have been told to watch for activities that may be legitimate on their own — but may suggest a heightened terrorist threat if there are many of them.

Among those activities:

*Interest in obtaining site plans for schools, bus routes and attendance lists.

*Prolonged “static surveillance” by people disguised as panhandlers, shoe shiners, newspaper or flower vendors or street sweepers not previously seen in the area.

*Observations of security drills.
People staring at or quickly looking away from employees or vehicles as they enter or leave parking areas.

*Foot surveillance of campuses involving individuals working together. (snip)

Indeed.

It's time to be extra vigilant and time to pray.

Gee, and even though the disaster plans for the San Diego Unified school district were found on a terrorists computer in Iraq, the SD police just continue to say "nothing to worry your pretty little heads about".

Outraged in SD.

I hear you.

USAtoday has a report out (that I can't access again for some weird reason).

Main point is MANY polling places on election day are in SCHOOLS.

Picturing the suicide bomber hitting a school/polling place.

I'll keep trying to find the article.

Main voting places that a terrorist may strike would be in Florida. They would have to take out many schools...just thoses in "close race" states, ie FL, Penn, etc.

Found the article:

Election warning causes anxiety

(snip)• In Tippecanoe County, Ind., chief election official Linda Phillips says she will move an undisclosed number of the county's 81 polling places out of elementary schools to "less vulnerable" sites. She acknowledges that Lafayette, Ind., "may not appear on any terrorist's road map," but she says that "it occurred to me that terrorists could get a double hit if they wanted to strike the election by taking out a school." >>Main point is MANY polling places on election day are in SCHOOLS. <<

That fact had totally skipped my mind. Our polling place is at a private home in the garage so I had forgotten that in other areas I have lived in that the polling places were in schools!

Oh man, let's pray that people are alert and on their toes between now and election day to keep these schools and polling places safe.

I also pray that no one has been able to penetrate these places earlier. Geesh, can you imagine how many bomb sniffing dogs it would take to clear each polling place???

Lafayette is ringing a bell for me.

Isn't that where the ME photographer lived or stayed who took a bunch of the pictures used on twexus, or it might have been the pictures that we were all looking at of the lighthouse off the east coast where the unidentified ME's were spotted in a small boat. Dang it! I wish my mind wasn't so fogged with meds!!!!!

But there was something about Lafayette lately that was discussed. Besides the photographer, I THINK that a ME student went missing from there or something.

Not sure about Lafayette, but the lighthouse incidents were in Rhode Island. Pomham Lighthouse.
