Dan Rather vigorously defended his "60 Minutes" story on President Bush's National Guard service yesterday, saying the 30-year-old memos he disclosed on the show this week "were and remain authentic," despite questions raised by some handwriting and document experts.

Goliath has already toppled over. We're just down here sawing off his head.
The article stated: "But Rather cautioned that the memos become less clear as they are downloaded and photocopied."
Just as a matter of curiosity, how can downloading a digital image make it any less clear.
So why isn't the word "kerning" getting to be as familiar to the public square as the F word is (maybe soon it will become a synonym, I don't know)? It really is a door slammer, so why all the foreplay on other less conclusive stuff, he said, she said, the wife thinks, the son thinks, the non expert thinks, the handwriting matches (copy and paste), etc? Why not just go for the throat?
Hands Marlo some gloves...
Did you see OReilly with Snow tonight? Snow had a CBS news editor on. He was sniffing at "blog writers sitting at computers in their pajamas" or some such.
We need these media experts to show us plebians how to think. Amazing how liberal and free these types think they are, and they are just snotty elitists at heart. /sarcasm off
That reminds me: It's time for my jammies.
"Rather: PUT IT IN CONTEXT AND PERSPECTIVE FOR US ... THE STORY AND WHAT WE CALL THE COUNTERATTACK ON THE STORY."
This would make sense if Rather used the phrase "attack on the story". But the term "counterattack" implies that the story was an attack. Responsible news organizations do not attack, they report. Rather has unwittingly acknowledged CBS' bias.
I wonder how much CBS paid Mately. :-)
OMG, I almost forgot about this quote!
Yes,it is...and I can't stop giggling and smiling. :-)
Speaking of Swifties...did you see on Fox that they've raised $6.7 million since they aired the first ad? How about that!
Looks like that zip code is a Houston area code

I think it is, kinda like "chad". There are so many wholes in this story its hard to concentrate on just ONE thing.
CBS reminds me of a dinosaur with a brain in its tail.
We've cut his head off, but he doesn't know it yet.
" I think the public is smart enough to see from whom some of this criticism is coming and draw judgments about what the motivations are."
HAHAHAHA...Dan's talking about himself, right?
See how great conservatives are: We police ourselves and only accept the provable facts--even if the other story "works" better for our cause.
Looks to me like the stand off is between the factual folks vs the lying dogs.
Just as a matter of curiosity, how can downloading a digital image make it any less clear.Well... SeeBS technical competency is still living in the Dark Ages :)
Well F-U right back Dan. If I were the Whitehouse I would take the line that we're not going to comment on documents of such questionable validity and we won't comment on them unless and until CBS releases the memos to a team of document validation experts for an independent and unbiased analysis.
Chew on that CBS. If you're really interested in the truth you shouldn't have any problems with releasing the memos for independent analysis.
