He may believe that this isn't his fight, that since Kerry is on the downslide anyway, why risk his own credibility over something as flimsy as the authenticity of Rather's documents. Perhaps the network rivalry will kick in and Colmes will be more motivated to elevate FNC over CBS and take the side that the documents were forgeries.
He will probably stop short of implicating the DNC and Kerry, but he will not defend Rather and CBS, in my opinion.
