There is a similar issue for the "1st" on the first line. On the CBS document there is a bit more space between the 1 and the st then when typed in normal word. But if you substitute the number 1, for the lower case letter L, it looks virtually like the number 1 but their is a larger space between the 1 and the st, just like the CBS document. Try it.

I seem to remember when I was in high school typing class being taught on a typewriter that did not even have a numeral "1" on it. We were taught to always use the lower case "L." It would be easy for someone who had experience typing on an older typewriter with no numeral "1" to sometimes revert to using the lower case "L" even when typing on a newer typewriter with a numeral "1" key.
