That's a good question. For a while I had been of the opinion that we would be dissappointed with what his records would show. Probably a few dings but nothing major.
But now I'm starting to wonder if he just blew off his reserve obligations (which would be a killer compared to questions about W's ANG service) or he did in fact get a not so honorable discharge.
I still doubt the latter, but charges of being AWOL for his reserve obligation would be really big.
There has to be something very deadly in his records that he has not been able to "Bergerize".

The "Reserve Obligation" business is a hollow charge. Hundreds of thousands of Viet Nam Era and Viet Nam War veterans ended up not having to attend a single reserve drill.

The reason was that all reserve billets in their area were filled at the time they were released from active duty.
