If you hate socialism and regulations now, just wait untill the votes of distressted working class Americans combined with the votes of the very easily minipulated and mostly poor immigrants join up and elect a ultra liberal congressional majority along with a liberal president in 2008.
Thanks for bringing that up. People forget that FDR was elected by a majority of citizens as the system wasn't working for them. If we continue to offshore white collar jobs we'll see FDR 2 pretty soon.
I agree on the timeframe too. Bush will squeek this one out and we'll see another 4 years of job losses (I'm not saying its his fault) and then we'll get a liberal president. Course by then all the CEOs that made money by not looking more than a quarter or two ahead will have already retired, their money safe in a Cayman island account and won't have to deal with the aftermath.

right now, I think we may be in recession by late 2005. job growth is not strong, I see a slowdown at work, more layoffs at large coprorations, more grinding down of health benefits and elimination of retiree medical - add $40 oil to that, and Greenspan wanting to take the fed funds rate to 4% - we could be in recession (or damn near close to 0% GDP) later in 2005.
