U.S. calls for diplomacy with Chechens(State Department)

WASHINGTON AP) - The Bush administration differed Tuesday with Russian President Vladimir Putin and said that only a political settlement could end the crisis between Russia and the breakaway region of Chechnya.

The administration also left open the possibility of U.S. meetings with Chechens who are not linked to terrorists.

Secretary of State Colin Powell and Deputy Secretary Richard Armitage signed a book of condolences at the Russian Embassy over the deaths of at least 330 people, most of them children, during a hostage-taking last week at a school in the southern city of Beslan.

You really don't understand. These are not human beings like the rest of us. They live to videotape fear, blood, gore, killing, and they sell these videos all over the place. Used to be a piece of cake to pick up videos of hundreds of gore-killings on their websites, pre-911.

The most popular video on one chechen list was one in which a five month old was disemboweled by a chechen on video. Copies of that one were in high demand for some time on a chechen list I was monitoring 2-3 years ago.

Another I recall advertised with a pic on a very well-known chechen site was of a man being castrated with a knife.

Remember Russia's occupation of Afghanistan?

Try to keep this clear, that was the soviets.

Or more likely a militia group --- but again that's armed adults fighting other armed adults.

Yes, they're subhumans, there's absolutely no argument there. The perpetrators of terrorist acts should be hunted down like dogs.

Now...

Why is Russian occupying Chechnya?

Because the continuing Russian occupation of Chechnya has created a training and recruiting haven for Al Qaeda

Most experts agree it is just the opposite. And history shows this as well. Go read some and come back when you understand what happened between the time when Russia conceded the first war to chechnya, and let them have their independence for almost 3 years - got that down yet?

Why is Russian occupying Chechnya?

Why is England occupying Ireland, or the USA occupying Iraq or Haiti?

Why don't you try reading the link I posted, with the quotes below it? It explains quite well what happened in ikcheria after Russia left them alone.

Then let me know how many videotapes of mutilated children of your country you would live with before you acted.

but someone has to remind the world that the Russian government does not have clean hands in Chechnya.

Yawn. Somehow I think you may be one of a very small minority here who cares.

The US is occupying Iraq FITZ?

The US liberated Iraq, and they are NOT occupying Haiti.

You've been listening to John Kerry way too much.

Now..what business does Russia have in occupying Chechnya?

Russia never left them alone. Yeltsin sent in the troops the moment that Chechnya declared their independence.

Russia never left them alone.

You need to go read and get an education. Russian conceded the first war to chechnya and for almost 3 years they were free. Go read about what they did with that choice.

We're nation building in Iraq and Haiti -- why did Russia stop occupying Poland and other counties but not Chechnya? Maybe for the same reason we don't get our troops out of Iraq now that Saddam is captured and they've been liberated. Maybe the same reason England doesn't pull out of Northern Ireland --- some places aren't more stable when they become unoccupied -- all hell breaks lose.

"Try to keep this clear, that was the soviets."

As long as you try to keep the difference between the Chechen people, and the Chechen terrorists clear.

In August 1996 Yeltsin agreed to a ceasefire with Chechen leaders, and a peace treaty was formally signed in May 1997.

The Second Chechen War began in 1999 after attacks by Chechen forces on neighboring Dagestan and a series of terrorist attacks on residential buildings in Russian cities that caused nearly 300 casualties, which were blamed on Chechen terrorists
