I don't care what the Russians do in Chechnya at this point. Whatever it takes, pacify it.
And I have full confidence that pacification of Chechnya is EXACTLY what Russia will do....
Remember carpet bombing? HOw about Tank Divisions? Tactical nukes?
A revolution only truly succeeds when those revolting have higher moral character and standing than those they are revolting against!
I wasn't sure about the Chechans personally,,,I thought they may have had a case against the Russians. But when they resort to warring against children like that and to brutalize them tells me that they have no moral legitimacy.
Putin needs to do what ever it takes to pacify that region and to send a message to the intellectual architects of that Chechan revolt and to Alquaeda itself!

Harry, it will take more than that. The Chechens destruction fails to eradicate the source of the terror, i.e., the Iranian mullahs, the House of Saud, Syria, and any other Islamists still breathing. They will all need to be decimated to the point where all Muslims will be so afraid to step out of line that they will piss their pants before resorting to this kind of thing again.
My suggestion to the Chechnyan problem is give the disgruntled Chechs a choice to leave Russia or accept relocation to another province.
