Perot's running mate in 1992 was Admiral James Stockdale, a former POW and a true American hero...Stockdale was originally chosen as a stopgap candidate for filing purposes. Then Perot dropped out of the race and when he re-entered it, it may have been too late to select anyone else for his running mate. Stockdale simply wasn't prepared to answer the kinds of political questions thrown at him during the debate and recognized that fact himself.

Admiral James Stockdale

Oh, God, the memories.... I was a Perot supporter at the time, I regret to admit, and I remember the VP debates getting ready to start. On comes Admiral Stockdale, and he announces, "I'm Admiral James Stockdale! Why am I here? Uh, why AM I here?" Then he kind of trailed off into some mumbling. He never composed himself after that. It seemed a good start but before he finished his third sentence, the debate was over for him.

God forgive me for voting for Ross Perot anyway.
