John Kerry has tried to sprint for the entire marathon. George Bush has run his race at an easy pace that has kept him fresh. He'll sprint the last 100 yards.

I hope so, but that's what I thought about GHWB, too. I mean, come on, the U.S. had recently won the most one-sided military victory in the history of war! Patriotism was rampant. And GHWB was a war hero in his own right - how could he get beaten by a slimy piss-ant draft dodger like Clinton?

But it seemed like he was just going through the motions of running for reelection. Instead of setting the agenda, he let Clinton make a cyclical downturn in the economy the issue, and he got is ass whipped.

And I got to serve 8 years under a Commander-in-Chief that I could never respect. I'm still peeved at Bush 41 for that.

At least President George W. Bush seems to be trying much harder to win. But I hope he has another gear to shift into - and the $$ to be successful.
