In the early 70s while doing Biological fieldwork, I traveled very extensively throughout Mexico and found a lot of the villagers to be very superstitious. The winged destroyer, the Chupacabra, was blamed for a whole host of things. And it came out only at night. I never saw one, but I did see a beetle the size of a house sparrow. Bad things do go bump in the night.
Are you there Moulder?

I never saw one, but I did see a beetle the size of a house sparrow. That's a cucaracha, not a chupacabra.
