ARNOLD "THE OAK": PRESIDENT OF EUROPE IN 2010
Bear Flag Republic Sun | August 27, 2004 | beachcomber

Whatever else you think about Arnold "The Oak" Schwarznegger you have to hand it to him. The man has a sense of style.

This mornig as I was driving west on Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles, I looked up to see a shining new billboard, on which was the beaming face of Arnold Schwarznegger, wearing a "Bear Flag Republic" T-Shirt, his brawny arms folded across his brawny chest, underneath of which was the message: California Wants Your Business.

That's cool!

On Monday, he will address the nation at the Republican national convention. Whatever you might thing about his policy positions (he's wrong, of course, on "Right To Life", and he's wrong, of course, on "Right To Work" legislation; and yes, it gets tedious hearing him recite the moderate-GOP mantra: "I'm socially moderate and fiscally conservative..."), but beyond that "The Oak" has what the anemic California Republican party needs most: testosterone (or, as Raymond Chandler used to say: "iron in his bones.")

So, then it hit me....a blinding illumination like Paul on the road to Damascus.

After "The Oak" wins re-election in California in 2006, and his term ends in January, 2010, why not run for President of the United States of Europe !?!

I'm serious.

He retains Austrian citizenship, right? They love him in the German speaking nations, and he is an internationally famous film star, plus the successful chief executive of the fifth largest economy in the world?

Take those skills to Europe and run for President of Europe.

Why not?

Who better to bring the brawny "iron in the bones" reforms the Europeans need to be competitive in the 21st century?

Whatever else you think of Arnold Schwarznegger, you have to hand it to him. The man is cool.

Now, if he'd just flip his mantra to the correct articulation: "socially conservative and fiscally moderate"...he could revolutionize not only Kal-i-for-nia, but then the United States of Europe in 2010.

And Maria would be a gorgeous First Lady of Europe.

Thank you, Arnold, for that billboard.

I can't imagine any other politician wearing the Bear Flag Republic T-shirt, arms folded with testosterone machismo, grinning slyly, radiating a confident sense of the future.

Remember: Big oaks from little acorns grow.

He's also on the cover of the September 2004 issue of Wired magazine. See article on page 127 "The New American Idol: Politics as usual? Hasta La Vista, baby. The radical center has flexed its muscle in California, short-circuiting the parties and going direct to the people. Now it could sweep the nation."

Unfortunately, the issue has 4 pages of Arnold and 8 pages on the MoveOn founders.

It will be fun to see what he says Monday in prime time. I bet he seizes the moment with a sense of drama.

That particle Wired article was horrible. The entire issue has the rank odor of the sloppily thrown together "I'd rather be at the beach summer edition" to it.

Arnold, give up the California sun for Brussels. The Kennedy clan returning as conquerors to Europe, that sounds about right. Maybe he'll slow the Muslim invasion by attracting Central and South American immigrants.

Wish I could find a larger photo but this is the best I could do. I was born in CA and lived there for 50 yrs. My kids still inhabit the state and I'm wishing Arnold the best in getting the state back up and running smoothly.
GO ARNOLD!

Which is why he'd be foolish to try to take on the EU bureaucrats, CA is bad enough, it's just asking too much from one man. LOL

He would be great though. Seriesly.

I'm afraid it's too late but he'll do his best. This state is in a serious mess and the legislative drive to do anything other than make it WORSE is strong. Arnold is only one man, the forces of socialism are just too strong, so far anyway.

You really thinks so? I have never understood why she is described as beautiful, I remember years ago one columnist said that without makeup she would be perfect for the part of the "wicked witch of the west" in the Wizard of Oz. I agree with this assessment.

What is "the oak", or why is this his nickname?

And, bodybuilders are not cool in any way shape or form.

Wired is a piece of high gloss garbage.

98% of it is horrible all the time.

It's true. She looks like skeletor. But from some angles she still looks pretty.

Arnold is a proud citizen of this, his adopted country. He wouldn't waste time with the Euroweenians who are doomed anyway. It would be fun to see him deal with France, though.

Update: October 19, 2004 AD

He has announced that he SUPPORTS and is encouraging "Yes on 71."

This is the embryonic stem-cell $3 BILLION bond issue, paid for by California taxpayers. He is PRO-Abortion, and now PRO-embryonic stem-cell research, which requires the killing of human life. AND he wants to indebt California taxpayers to pay for this!

So, the sooner he gets off to Europe, the better.

Let the "Boy from Graz" take his PRO-Abortion, PRO-embryonic stem -cell research, PRO-active "Maria" and her DNC activism, PRO-Business skills to Europe.

Everything I wrote earlier still applies, but with one change:

He must return to Europe and run for President of the European Union of Socialist Republics immediately and not wait until 2010, as I previously posted.

He belongs in Strasbourg, not Sacramento.
