McCain figured out that they key to free positive publicity is to slam fellow Republicans. He led the democrat effort to obscure the Clinton/Red Chinese money connection by diverting the public's attention with CFR. Now he's calling his fellow Vietnam Vets dishonorable liars and trying to deny them their right to express their opinions while simultaneously assisting Kerry in accusing Bush of being behind the ads. He is the Old Media's Golden Boy.

Now you tell me he wouldn't have run as a democrat in a democrat state.

After all that, I'm still voting for him, because he is an incumbant senator, and Bush needs all of those he can get.

JMJ!
McCain went wobbly AFTER the Keating Five scandal.
Prior to that, he was a HUGE partisan.
John courted media for his own personal gain,
and it worked, except that along the way John
started to care what the media think of him.
THAT is his downfall.

He never had any intention of running as a democrat.
He's an 3rd generation Academy man.
Look, I know a lot about him.
My husband was a classmate of his at USNA
and they remained friends for 50 years.

Ronald Reagan was his political mentor.
He holds Goldwater's seat, and unfortunately,
like Goldwater did, McCain is getting more
liberal on social issues as he ages.
Must be the desert heat.

Let's not forget the most obvious thing about politics: They are infested with Politicians. Politicians may have values, they may have core beliefs, but they also "may do what it takes to be elected".

I wouldn't trust McCain as a buddy, but he votes MOSTLY the way I want, and that's the best I can expect... He wouldn't be a politician if he didn't have a huge ego and a need to "get elected"....

I concede to your superior knowledge. I started following his career during the Keating Five scandal.

There's one AZ newspaper that's really rough on him.
Printed all the stuff about Cindi and her father.
Look, I don't like some of McCain's stances, but when
it comes to our military and our national defense,
he is John Wayne McCain.

Kerry invoked his name too much and too often.
John got mad and for good and plentiful reasons.

His fascination with the media angers his friends.
They cannot understand that --- it's self serving, unfortunately.

I am anxious to hear his speech tomorrow night.
