Shep Smith saying in all of aviation history no two airliners which haven taken off from the same airport have crashed within minutes of each other.

Thanks. The two or three people on here who are trying to tell the rest of us not to jump to conclusions about terrorism are simply not using common sense. Of course we all know that details are sketchy and that the story could change as more is learned. But it certainly isn't unreasonable to suspect terrorism and to speculate as to methods use.

Shep did mention DHS is keeping a close eye on this.

I would hope so!!!

We had better be checking the baggage very closely.

The second plane has been missing for about an hour now. Two planes down almost simultaneously -- I think it's safe to assume this is no coincidence.

If it turns out that there was communication from the cockpit indicating some mechanical problem or something in the minutes before the crashes, then this could be a really remarkable coincidence.

If there wasn't, and these planes simply had a sudden catastrophic event, then you have to assume that it was a terrorist event. Two airlines, same departure airport, crashing without warning in different parts of the country? Planes don't generally crash without warning unless a mid-air collision is involved.

Hmmmm, no two airliners crashing within minutes of each other after departing same airport?? I seem to recall something akin to that happening to two airliners after departing Boston about three years ago.
