I think they can run ads if they are backed by small donors. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Same for Moveon.org.

Size of donors means nothing - 527's can run right up until NOV 2nd and they will be running - With the DEM's outspending us by over $150 million -

But Cableguy, the fringe left is maxed out on its claims against Bush. They've been maxed out for months. Bush has absorbed as much mean spirited damage as he is going to. The polling indicates as much.
But not so for Kerry. The attacks on Kerry are just getting started. He has A LOT more damage to absorb before the public sees it as old hat. By then, where will his poll numbers be? Through the basement floor that's where.

Don't get me wrong folks, we need to continue donating money to the Swiftee. Cableguy is correct that the enemy has a big financial advantage. I myself have already given $150.00. And I will likely double that over the next several weeks. Give what you can. www.swiftvets.com

Does anyone have an answer on what McCain-Finegold bars after 2 September? I understand it to bar any reference stated or implied for or against any person or party seeking Federal office, in a TV or radio, but not print ad, except for money spent by official campaigns and raised under Federal rules. If 527s can run ads through election day McLame-Feingold has an exception that swallos the rule.
