Hurray!

IRAQ THE MODEL Saturday, August 21, 2004

Hurray! Iraqi football team won against Australia 1-0 to reach the semifinal for the first time in Iraq's history. Now we are going to play for a medal! Iraq has one medal only in her Olypic record; a bronze one that we won in weight-lifting back in 1960.

This is the *BEST* acheivment Iraq has ever acheived in soccer. Strange isn't it!? Not to me! I really expected that despite the difficult life in Iraq that our athletes were going to perform better than ever, and I believe it's the effect of freedom.

Right now there is lots of shooting into the air (I don't like it but at least Iraqis are happy and it's better to waste bullets this way).

I know some of our American friends are upset with the Iraqi team because of the latest comments of some players, but this is Iraq, not 1 or 2 players and the player who said these terrible words didn't even play! I wish you could forget that idiot and join us in our celebrations, as the truth must be said, it's a victory that you helped in in so many ways.

Well I must say those words from some on the Iraqi team pretty much poisoned it for me.

Until other Iraqi's on the team say otherwise, that's where I will remain.

To hell with them. I hope they lose in the semi-finals. I was watching Washington Journal on C-Span yesterday morning and they show a clipping where the midfielder was quoted as saying if he wasn't playing soccer he be in iraq killing U.S. troops. I was floored when I heard that. That quote was sanitized from the version floating on here last night.
Those little bastards can eat sh!t and die for all I care.

``Bush helps to destroy our country. After a year and a half, we have passed into a very bad situation. ... We'll never believe Bush can be with us.'' -- Iraqi coach Adnan Hamad

To say ungrateful would be euphemistic.

If it weren't for the global threat of radical muslims left unchecked getting their hands on WMDs, today and in the future (e.g. North Korea), we could say let them all kill each other in the desert sand...

congratulations for your team and your countrymen....

I hope we don't have to stay in Iraq too long because it really is costing us some of our finest young people....

and then you will have your country to yourself again....

someday,I hope the world and the Iraqis come to appreciate what was done and why.....

I thought you had some boxers in the Olympics too?
