A shameful performance for which incidentally, he has never apologized. Its a good day when what goes around comes back in spades.

When I was growing up, my parents and all my friends parents were either Nam Era Vets, Nam Vets, or young adults when it happened. I remember any media retelling of events in Vietnam were heavily laced with propaganda that our guys were baby killers, rapists, torchers, etcetera and I always wondered why. As I grew into my teenage years I became more curious as to where this image came from since I could not believe that our country allowed wholesale destruction and murder on the scale it was portrayed.

I began asking my parents, my friends parents, the older guys who taught me as a young Sailor, and anyone whom I could about Vietnam. Along with the research I did as a teenager, and later as a young adult, I found that my suspicions were correct: What I was being fed was a load of crap. I now know from whom the slanderous labels came and I have learned to hate the ex hippies and the communist left with all of my fiber. So much so, it can be frightening at times.

Since my "awakening", if you will, as a young adult I have hoped and prayed to God Almighty that the "old timers" would finally grow tired of the image that was forced upon them by this traitor who belongs in the ninth circle of Hell (to take the place of Judas Iscariot), rise up, and destroy him. It has been a long time coming, but I think that day has arrived and no one will be able to stop it.

As an active duty member who is authorized to wear a National Defense Medal with a star (for a second conflict) as well as various campaign medals (let me be clear that I am not a hero and will never willingly take that mantle), I have made it my personal duty to make sure that myself and my fellow comrades in arms are never slandered like these great men and women were. If the time comes, I can only hope that I have the spine to lay it all on the line as these men and others of the past have.
