Those old EE-8 field telephones had a hand-cranked ring generator that could put out over 90 volts.

The new standard for automotive electrical systems will be 42V. It can cause an arcing fault that will burn through metal, and is sufficient voltage, at the amperage required for automotive applications, to kill.

I fished one out of neighbor's garbage as a kid. I took it apart for the generator. I took it to school. The guy in
front of me was touching the metal part of the desk. Can't remember how I completed a circuit, but, zapping myself in
the process, was able to give him a surprise shock.

Ah, for the days when zero-tolerance was of Hitler and Stalin.
